"The Psychedelic Walrus" is a rock opera inspired by late 1960's/early 1970's "Acid Rock". It was written and performed by the one-off band also titled "The Psychedelic Walrus". It chronicles the life and death of The Psychedelic Walrus.
The 4 pieces on the album were originally recorded "live" in stereo on Nov. 26th, 2010 at Paul Gagnier's house in Detroit, MI. These live tracks consisted of Paul Gagnier on drums, Jeff Archer on bass, and "Uncle Jim" on vocals. Jeff Archer later overdubbed electric guitars and Mellotron onto the initial "live" recordings at his own home studio to complete the tracks.
In keeping with the 1960's/70's "Acid Rock" spirit of the album Jeff Archer overdubbed his electric guitar and Mellotron parts using only amplifiers and effects that were modeled on those that were made in or before 1969.
